What better way to start the year then to go collect a new batch of kiln dried board blanks. Our first wood run takes us west of the Gold Coast to the gorgeous Tamborine Mountains. We were able to pick up a nice collection of camphor laurel, rose wood and even some blackbutt blanks. These boards are all different shapes, sizes, and grain so it’s important that each board is carefully selected for its use. These boards will be sanded, cut to size, and then taken to the electricity factory where we SAFELY pass thousands of volts of electricity through each piece. Once electrocuted, cleaned, and dried, we carefully select the pigment to mix into our ICE EPOXY resin ensuring the grains and colours all complement one another. With Epoxy acting like water, it is crucial to cover all holes, cracks and imperfections that may allow the resin to seep through.
Once the final stage of sanding is complete, each board gets a mineral oil bath where the grain absorbs as much oil as possible. The excess is removed and then a generous coat of our in house Wood Conditioner is buffed on for its final protective layer. The boards are then branded, wrapped and ready to be delivered to the multiple stores around the Gold Coast.
